Writing Part 2 – Proposal (C1 Advanced Level)
Task
Your college is planning to improve students’ experience
outside the classroom. The principal has asked for suggestions on how to make
the college more enjoyable and supportive for students.
You have been asked to write a proposal.
In your proposal, you should:
- suggest
two or more changes or improvements
- explain
how these changes would benefit students
- recommend
which suggestion is the most important and why
Write your proposal in 220–260 words.

Your writing will be evaluated according to:
- Content
– Have you answered all parts of the task?
- Communicative
Achievement – Is your proposal formal, clear, and appropriately
structured?

Guidelines for Candidates
A good proposal should:
- Use a formal
or semi-formal tone
- Include
clear headings (e.g., Introduction, Suggestions, Conclusion)
- Use modal
verbs and persuasive language (e.g., should, could, it would be
beneficial if…)
- Be objective
and well-justified
Optional Ideas (for inspiration)
You may consider:
- Creating
new social spaces or clubs
- Improving
mental health support services
- Organising
events or workshops
- Enhancing
study facilities or technology
Exam Tip
Make sure your proposal is not just descriptive—you must
evaluate and recommend. The final paragraph should clearly state your strongest
suggestion.
